It will soon be easier to recover your Apple ID password. Instead of blocking the account after several unsuccessful attempts, Apple will allow iOS 15 to call a loved one to provide an authentication code. The feature is already available in beta.
Forgetting your Apple ID password is often synonymous with the obstacle course. If you ever have the misfortune to fail too many times trying to log in, your account will be completely blocked. You will then have to call Apple directly to regain access to one of your devices. We agree, this solution is far from ideal. Also, the Cupertino firm wanted to make things a little easier for its users.
iOS 15 will integrate a feature called Account Recovery. The idea is simple: instead of having to contact Apple Customer Service to reset their password, the operating system gives them the option of doing the same with a friend — provided they also have an iPhone. They can use it to get the recovery code and then pass it on to the person in distress. The process then becomes the same as usual: simply enter the code and then change the password to find access to his account.
HOW TO SET UP RECOVERY CONTACT ON IOS 15
Of course, the operation does not work with just anyone. You must first configure the contact you want to call in case of a glitch in your iPhone settings. Just go to Settings > Apple ID > Password and security > Account recovery > Add recovery contact. On the page that appears to explain precisely the role of this contact, click Add Recovery Contact. Just enter your Apple ID password and follow the on-screen instructions.
Note that the selected contact must be at least 13 years old. The feature is already available in the public beta of iOS 15. However, as always, not the final version of the operating system may still have bugs. We advise you to choose a strong and simple password to remember.
