Microsoft: a Cloud PC presented on July 15th?

The project of virtualization of the office by Microsoft would be about to make its entry.

Decidedly, this year 2021 promises to be particularly busy for Microsoft, which seems determined to turn the page on the anemic 2020. Thus, after announcing Windows 11, the editor would be about to deploy its Cloud PC, which we did not expect for several more months.

A Windows desktop… remotely

Sometimes known under the code name «Deschutes», the Cloud PC project that has been trotting in the head of Microsoft’s bosses for quite some time is to be compared to the francophone Shadow, except that there is no question of focusing on the game.

Powered by the Azure platform (who else?), the Microsoft Cloud PC is presented as a virtualized desktop in the form of a service that will allow customers to use “light” devices to access a remote Windows desktop, and which will obviously be loaded with Microsoft solutions, like the famous Office .

See you on July 15

Rumours had once evoked a possible announcement during the spring. This was ultimately not the case. It now seems that Microsoft has the idea of taking advantage of the Inspire conference to unveil its project to virtualize the desktop.

Neowin points out that the 15th of July will be held session called What’s Next in End-User Computing. To introduce it, we are talking about the “new Microsoft cloud solution to allow hybrid work”. It is difficult not to see a reference to the Cloud PC, and all the ingredients seem to be combined for such a presentation. We will of course mention all the details, if there is an announcement.
