Apple unveils a MacBook Air with M2 chip and iMac-style colors in 2022

Apple is currently working on a new MacBook Air. Completely redesigned, this new laptop would be powered by the Apple M2 chip (instead of the future M1X chip of the MacBook Pro). It would also be distinguished by a host of colors similar to those of the iMac 2021.

The MacBook Air M2, one of Apple’s upcoming laptops, continues to make headlines. Over the past few months, we have learned that the MacBook Air will be given a new design. Inspired by the iPhone 12, Apple would bet on flat slices, reminiscent of the old iPhone, instead of the thin and tapered edges found on the MacBook Air on the market.

According to information shared by the Dylandkt leaker on Twitter, Apple will offer new colors on this MacBook Air. The brand would apply the recipe of iMac by declining the computer in several pastel colors. The informant Jon Prosser tables on the following colors: green, blue, purple pink, orange and yellow.

The future MacBook Air would be powered by the next generation of ARM chips designed by Apple Silicon: M2. This processor, whose production has not yet begun, would be reserved for MacBook Air and the most popular devices in the Apple catalog.

On the Macs stamped “Pro”, the Mountain View giant would rather bet on the M1X chipset. A direct successor to the SoC M1 that powers iMac, iPad Pro and MacBook, this processor is already in production. Apple would use a new 5 nm engraving technology, TSMC’s N5P process, to reduce the component’s energy consumption. The chipset can be expected to appear in the fall.

For its part, the MacBook Air with M2 chip would not be expected until the first semester of next year. Given Apple’s calendar-side habits, we can expect the new MacBook Air to be announced around March during a keynote. We’ll tell you more as soon as possible about the brand’s upcoming computers. While waiting for more information, feel free to give your opinion in the comments below.

Just wanted to share some details on when to expect the next generation M2 (not the M1X which is reserved for the Pro Mac devices). This processor is on track to release in the first half of 2022 alongside the upcoming colorful Macbook (Air).
