PS5: Sony launches registrations for the next firmware beta

Sony reiterates its policy regarding preview access to the different firmwares of its consoles. Thus, Sony has just opened its subscription to the private beta of the next big software update of the PS5.

Since the launch of the PS5 in November 2020, Sony has obviously multiplied the software updates, in particular to fix the bugs of early console career. In April 2021, for example, the manufacturer corrected the problems of the player, which was making noise for no apparent reason. A little later, Sony released another minor update to improve the performance of the machine.

Nevertheless, the owners of PS5 are still waiting for the major update of the console. And according to recent statements from the Japanese firm, this famous major firmware update will be released shortly. In fact, Sony decided to reiterate the strategy implemented with the PS4.

The manufacturer announced the implementation of a private beta for the next patch of the PS5. Interested players will be able to preview “the new features and thus provide essential feedback to their good developments”. Selected participants will be able to share their feedback with Sony.

And private beta says pre-registration. If you are interested, you can register at this address. However, some conditions must be met:

  • have a PS5 connected to the internet
  • be at least 18 years old
  • Resides in France, USA, Canada, Japan, UK or Germany
  • Commit to complete and accurate feedback to Sony Interactive Entertainment

If you meet all of these criteria, you can try your luck and cross your fingers to be selected. If successful, you will receive an email with instructions on how to download the beta version of the new firmware. As a reminder, Sony recently fixed a DualSense controller bug that displayed “empty battery” for no reason. This patch was deployed on June 9, 2021.
