Pirates and freshwater sailors will have to take their pain in patience: Ubisoft announced that the release of the game Skull and Bones was once again postponed to an undetermined date, between April 2022 and March 2023. In the meantime, we take stock of this promising action-adventure game.

Will Skull and Bones become the cursed game of Ubisoft, the one they promise us forever, but which will never come out? We do not hope, because this adventure game in the heart of the pirate world looks very promising.

The game Skull and Bones, developed by Ubisoft’s Singapore studio, was announced in 2017, with a first release date set in 2018. As you can imagine, this release has been postponed, in 2019. Then in 2020. Then on a vague niche between 2021 and 2022. Finally, during its last annual review, published on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, Ubisoft promises a release… between April 2022 and March 2023. A long period that does not protect us from unpleasant surprises.

Let us keep hope in spite of everything! Frédérick Duguet, Chief Financial Officer of Ubisoft, assures that this new report will make the game even more beautiful and playful: We believe very strongly in the team’s creative vision and the task entrusted to them for the game is incredibly ambitious. Ubisoft Singapore’s production has been progressing well over the past 12 months and the promise has never been better. This additional time will enable him to achieve this vision,” he promised reporters at Video Games Chronicle.

It is true that the studio Ubisoft Singapore had accomplished wonders on Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag: they were in charge of the naval battles. It was therefore wise to choose them to develop this game that takes place during the golden age of piracy.

With Skull and Bones, you’re the captain of your own ship. You and your crew travel the seas in search of treasures… and fights. Your goal is to become the Ultimate Pirate, leader of the seven seas, commander of trade routes and destroyer of enemies.

Between two battles, this long sea walk is a real pleasure: on the waves, between two rays of sun, the game can offer a real moment of calm and beauty. But don’t worry, this game is far from soothing. Enemies swarm on and in the sea…
