Closure of the PS Store PS3 and PS Vita: your library condemned?

For the past few days, players have been panicking about seeing the PlayStation Store close on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PSP, and rightly so. But thanks to this article, we will answer all your questions, starting with those that we see on all lips: “Will it be possible to recover his games previously bought after closing the blinds?”

It is now official, the PlayStation Store of the PlayStation 3 will close its doors from July 2, 2021 and the PlayStation Vita, from August 27. The bad news was made official by Sony just a few minutes ago. The lens? Allow manufacturers to fully focus on improving PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 technology.

On July 2, 2021, we close the PlayStation Store on PlayStation 3 and on August 27, 2021, on PlayStation Vita devices. In addition, the purchase feature that was retained on the PSP (PlayStation Portable) will also be removed as of July 2, 2021. After careful consideration, we decided to focus our efforts on PlayStation Store, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, which will allow us to further improve the quality of the customer experience. We would like to thank you for your loyalty to these platforms over the years.

What does that mean? Unfortunately, it will no longer be possible to use your money to buy new productions on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PSP. If you are going to buy a game on these machines, we have only one piece of advice: hurry up!

Despite this bad news, Sony says that players will still be able to recover their games after the closing of the various services. Indeed, even if it will no longer be possible to buy new productions from July 2 on PS3 and PSP and from August 27 on PS Vita, it will still be possible to download his games infinitely by accessing his Download List on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PSP. Good news, as long as you subscribe to PlayStation Plus, the games you have retrieved “for free” with this service will also be available in this same Download List.

However, if you bought a PS3/PS Vita cross-buy pack with the same game on both platforms and you downloaded only one of these two versions, it is strongly recommended to add this second version to your Download List before closing the blinds.

Of course, with the closing of the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PSP blinds, it will no longer be possible to use your wallet funds on these different platforms. However, please note that the money in your wallet will not be lost, since it is the same as the one found on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and on the PlayStation app.

The funds in your PSN wallet will remain in your PlayStation Network account, but you will only be able to use them to purchase PS4 and PS5 products on the PlayStation Store on the Web, on PlayStation App or on PS4 and PS5 consoles.

In addition, we also learned that the PlayStation Vita messaging service will also close its doors on June 28, 2021. However, note that your messages will always be available via the PlayStation App or your PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5.
