Unfortunately, if you couldn’t pre-order it, you had to wait a long time: Sony had announced that the console was out of stock as soon as it was released, and the PS5 could not even be sold in stores.

This decision, applied in Japan, Europe and North America, is the result of the pandemic: Sony says it wants to “keep its players, resellers and employees safe during Covid-19.” Those who have pre-ordered the console can go click and collect it in stores, but the company calls on buyers not to clutter the spaces in line.

According to Jim Ryan, CEO of the video game company, Sony sold the equivalent of 12 weeks of pre-orders of PS4 in just 12 hours in the United States at its launch in 2013. “The demand expressed by the level of pre-orders is considerable,” he said. “It’s quite possible that some of those who want to buy a PS5 on launch day may not be able to do so,” he added.

At the beginning of March 2021, rumours are spreading: sales stocks could be replenished at some stores this first week of the month. Watch for announcements from , CDiscount, Amazon, Auchan, Ebay….

After Super U, it is Carrefour and Géant Casino’s turn to sell the famous console on their website. Be quick, there won’t be enough for everyone.
