Cook sausage in large skillet until hot. Remove from pan and set aside. Melt butter in the same large skillet. Add cabbage, onion, and green pepper. Cook on medium high for about 5 minutes stirring to keep it from sticking to the pan, Add tomatoes, salt, pepper and cooked sausage, cover and simmer for 20 - 25 minutes.
